Psychologist Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-Operative

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Role

We currently have an opportunity to join our Health Services team as a Clinical Psychologist in a part time (3 days per week). This position contributes to positive community outcomes in social and emotional wellbeing by maintaining an active clinical caseload with the Wellness and Recovery Team. The position delivers evidence-based, best practice clinical standards, and culturally informed psychological interventions in line with strategic objectives,  and undertakes supervision of provisional psychologists and psychology placement students.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold and maintain full general registration (minimum) with the Psychology Board of Australia as an AHPRA registered health professional
  • Hold and maintain registrar endorsement in Clinical Psychology (preferred)
  • Hold and maintain status as a Board Approved Supervisor with the PsychBA
  • Have a current Medical Benefits Scheme Billing provider number
  • Have demonstrated experience providing psychological services in a community, cultural, or health service environment
  • Have experience working in a service delivery setting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Have experience or demonstrated capability to provide professional clinical supervision to provisionally registered Psychologists
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills with ability to develop positive stakeholder relationships and communicate with diverse individuals at all levels
  • The ability to demonstrate resilience and meet targets and objectives within a pressured environment
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of accuracy
  • The ability to work effectively and cooperatively as part of a team

About Us

The name Wathaurong (Wada-Wurrung) is a recognised tribe (community) which consisted of some 25 clans (family groups) that formed part of the Kulin Nation of Aboriginal people.

The traditional boundaries of the Wathaurong people span the coastline from the Werribee River to Lorne peninsula and traverse inland in a north westerly direction towards Ballarat. The Wathaurong people have lived within these regions for more than 25,000 years.

As custodians of the Wathaurong lands, we are committed to working together to provide a secure future for our community by upholding the dignity of our ancestors; respecting our Elders and instilling a sense of cultural pride and belonging for our children and children’s children.
