headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds. headspace has 108 centres across Australia in metropolitan, regional and remote areas, as well as online and phone support services through eheadspace.
Sonder is the lead agency for headspace Adelaide, Edinburgh North, Marion and Onkapringa.

Learn about the position:
As our Youth Peer Practitioner, you will work as part of the headspace Early Psychosis Service. You will utilise your personal experience of mental illness to assist young people experiencing psychosis for the first time. Additionally, you will draw from a strengths-based recovery orientated service of care and act as a role model towards recovery for people experiencing mental illness.
The overall aims of the Youth Peer Support Program is to draw upon young people’s lived experience of mental health difficulties in order to:
- Provide and hold hope, inspiration and empowerment for recovery
- Destigmatise mental health difficulties
- Provide opportunities for young people and staff to benefit from collective wisdom
Experience Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience working within a fast-paced environment.
- Has their own lived experience of recovery from mental illness
- Has previous work experience in administrative roles and has had experience
- with using databases and computer systems.
Qualification Requirements:
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or equivalent
- Current or willing to obtain a Working With Children’s Check
- Safe Environments – Through Their Eyes Certificate (desirable but not required)
