JOB DESCRIPTION

Mount Scopus Memorial College is a co-educational Jewish School from Early Learning to Year 12 across three campuses; St Kilda East, Caulfield South and Burwood.  You do not have to Jewish to work at Mount Scopus, and we welcome applicants from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Owing to an internal promotion, the College is seeking a suitably experienced person to the full-time position of  Head of Student Wellbeing to work across the whole Burwood Campus (incorporating Year 4 – 12)  commencing from Term 1, 2024 to be based at our Gandel campus, Burwood with regular presence at other College campuses (East St Kilda and Caulfield). 

The Head of Student Wellbeing will be responsible for continuing to develop and implement the best known contemporary practices in pastoral care, management of behavioural development and welfare, and to enhance the overall wellbeing of students.   The successful candidate will;

  •  ensure high-quality Wellbeing education by monitoring, reviewing and improving the programming, content, and pedagogy of Teachers

  • foster a wellbeing culture with a coherent philosophical approach that is consistent with the College’s mission and values across the School by monitoring, reviewing and improving all wellbeing projects.

  •  Oversee the application and continuous review of all School wellbeing policies and practices by ensuring they are consistent with the philosophies of the College regarding the management and development of student behaviour.

  • Encourage and coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of professional development and publication of relevant articles to teaching and pastoral care support staff on all matters relating to student wellbeing.

  •  Provide appropriate wellbeing focus relevant to different cohorts of students by establishing specific year level goals and communicating these to staff, students and parents.

  • Promote and improve student wellbeing, safety, resilience, engagement and connectedness across the school by leading, directing, participating in and promoting a Wellbeing Framework that focuses on primary prevention and early intervention, and a development of positive relationships between staff and students.

  • Act as the designated Child Safety Officer for the College across all three campuses.  

In addition to the above responsibilities, the successful candidate may be allocated a small teaching load.
