​Psychosocial Support Worker | Inner and Outer Suburbs – Melbourne (VIC) Sykee

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking mental health support workers to service our rapidly growing community in Victoria.

Help vulnerable people gain the skills and capabilities they need to gain their independence and participate in various community and societal activities.

As a Sykee Support Worker, you will have the freedom of scheduling your own hours, working independently with your clients, and access to training, guidance and advice from our in-house specialist. Starting off as casual / part-time, with the option of moving into a full-time caseload. Progressing your career in Psychology and Counselling with Sykee is also an option made available to successful Sykee Support Workers.

About the role:

We service all Melbourne metropolitan areas (including; Inner and outer suburbs; Western, Northern, Eastern and Southern areas). We assure you get work within 30 minutes of where you live, or less.  Any travel related expenses are fully reimbursed including; tolls, parking fees, travel time, and each km travelled.

Typically the role includes:

  • Offering mentoring, companionship and social support
  • Assisting clients with community re-engagement 
  • Transporting and accompanying clients to and from appointments
  • Working individually with clients to assist and achieve therapeutic goals 

To be successful in this role you may have:

  • Degree / Diploma in Psychology, Counselling, or other mental health disability and care related qualifications.

AND/OR

  • Previous experience working with people that have mental health conditions

Essential requirements:

  • Patience and a compassionate nature to help others
  • National Police Check
  • Working With Children’s Check (if applicable)
  • 2 Doses of COVID-19 Vaccination or Medical Exemption Form 
  • A current Australian Driver’s License and access to a reliable car
