About the Position

The International Student Advisor team is responsible for supporting international students studying at CIT by monitoring international students on student visas compliance against the National Code of Practice, referring international students to appropriate resources and services, and meeting reporting requirements for all international student cohorts including sponsored students. The International Student Advisor team collaborates with CIT, external stakeholders and clients to meet their agreed key performance areas.

Key Areas of Responsibility and Accountability

  • Providing information, advice and referral to CIT International students to maximise successful graduate outcomes. 
  • Implementation of the key tasks listed to be performed in compliance with the ESOS act, the National Code of Practice and relevant CIT policies and procedures.
  • Provision of informed and timely information to students and preparation of information required to process the tasks below where applicable:
    • Student administration including applying for a mid-study deferral, Extension of studies, part-time fee calculations, release from studies, withdrawal from studies, change of course or enrolment, CoE changes etc.
    • Understanding the obligations of student visas and CIT’s policies and procedures.
  • Preparing student appeal documentation where required.
  • Assisting with the training of staff as required.
  • Assist with other duties as requested by your supervisor.

Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience (Selection Criteria)

  • Degree qualification in administration or similar stream
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role or capacity
  • Prior experience in vocational or higher education will be highly regarded.
  • A basic understanding of the various RTO regulatory and compliance requirements including ESOS legislation, National Code of Practice, ASQA, CRICOS and other relevant bodies.

Reporting Line

  • Reports to Senior Manager, International Services Unit

Career Pathway

  • Upward career progression to Management roles with International Services Unit
  • Sideways career progression to similar roles across all portfolios.

  • Salary Range: $70,000 -$80,000 per annum (full-time salary equivalent) negotiable depending on your level of experience.
  • Part-time fixed-term position (22.5 hours per week) for 1 year.

Important Information

  • You will primarily work from our Bruce (Canberra) office where you will have access to ample free parking.
  • Role available for immediate start.
