The ‘Me Too’ movement is bringing positive change to the North Queensland region and The Women’s Centre as we are expanding our team of Specialist Sexual Assault Support and Women’s Wellbeing Counsellors. If you are a passionate, experienced counsellor with a special interest in supporting women who have experienced sexual assault, violence and trauma, we are looking for you to join our team.
Come and work with us at our purpose-built facility that provides a safe, women’s only space for women to receive counselling and support to heal from trauma. We have a well-resourced centre, with opportunities for professional development and career progress for all our employees.
The Sexual Assault Support Service is an integral part of the Townsville’s Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). SART is an innovative model of support for survivors and as a leader in this space, is the first of its kind set up in Queensland. The 24/7 SART service provides a collaborative, holistic and wrap-around model of care offering specilialist support to survivors of sexual assault via an interagency partnership.
The Women’s Centre provides therapeutic and social group activities as well Women’s Health and Wellbeing Counselling and offers a Specialist Homelessness Support Service for women experiencing homeless.

Suitable applicants require social work, social science or psychology tertiary level qualifications. Skills and experience in the areas of sexual assault and domestic and family violence, counselling, mental health and advocacy is desirable. The role also presents the opportunity to participate in our ground-breaking, interagency partnership and 24 hour on-call roster as a part of the Sexual Assault Response Team. Participation on this roster is flexible and can be discussed at the interview stage.
The remuneration package:
- 15 days Personal Leave
- Above award Annual Leave

- Level 4 or Level 5 of the SCHCADS Award 2010 (relative to qualifications and experience)
