About Alta-1 College

Alta-1 College WA is an independent Christian, co-educational, CARE (Curriculum and Reengagement in Education) School with a strong legacy of transforming lives since 2004. Across multiple Western Australia and Queensland locations, our multi-campus college strategically partners with existing church communities. Our dedication is directed towards disengaged and disadvantaged young people aged 12 to 18, providing them with a unique pathway to complete their secondary education.

Core responsibilities

  • leadership;
  • selecting, admitting, encouraging, disciplining and excluding students; 
  • ensuring the safety and welfare of students as far as reasonably practicable whilst under the supervision of the College;
  • implementing the policies of the College and Alta-1 Australia; 
  • the conduct and control of the organisation, curriculum, instruction and promotion of Alta-1 College in line with the Alta-1 System and other requirements of the Alta-1 Licence and relevant mandated government requirements; 
  • selection and management of staff and their pastoral care and performance; 
  • promoting cooperation with the local churches and other community organisations;
  • monitoring and reporting on performance in relation to the school plan and any other matters of which the Board should be aware; 
  • ensuring compliance requirements are met within the context of the College’s compliance framework;
  • financial planning and management of the Region; 
  • proactive cooperation and teamwork across Alta-1; and 
  • other matters as required by Alta-1 from time to time.

  • passion for, commitment to and success in working with at-risk adolescent students.
  • effective interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills, relevant for managing relationships with parents, students and staff.
  • Ability to develop, grow and empower individual team members
  • Ability to build team and foster collaboration
  • Experience in implementing a curriculum framed by the requirements of the appropriate government agency and/or an equivalent
