 ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

The Catholic Archdiocese of Perth has 106 Parishes and 23 Agencies within its boundaries. Each parish is led by a priest appointed by the Archbishop of Perth. Agencies are managed by a Director, and deliver a wide variety of ministries, including faith enrichment and formation, liturgy, safeguarding, disability, and mental health support, counselling, Aboriginal outreach, marriage and family education services, homelessness support, justice, and ecology education programmes, training courses and employment support, migrant and refugee services, and prison chaplaincy. The Office of the Archbishop (OOA) and the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth Administration Centre (CAPAC) are situated at Griver House, 249 Adelaide Terrace, Perth.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

 

The Head of Mission Enhancement & Outreach for Archdiocesan Agencies, in collaboration with the Auxiliary Bishop and Episcopal Vicars, is responsible for fostering and promoting a focus on mission enhancement within the offices, organisations, and agencies of the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth as distinctive ministries of the Catholic Church that are imbued by Gospel Values. This role will report to the Executive Director, Office of the Archbishop.

 

This role will work in collaboration with Directors and Coordinators of Archdiocesan Agencies, as well as Committees of Management, to identify and initiate strategies and approaches that enhance and streamline the level of service impact offered by Archdiocesan Agencies in support of clergy, parishes, staff, volunteers, and the wider community. This role will have 15 direct reports. 

 

The key responsibilities include:

 

  • Develop and manage relationships with Directors and Coordinators of Archdiocesan Agencies, clergy, parishes, offices, and organisations of the Archdiocese 
  • Develop and deliver professional support, formation resources and opportunities to Agency Directors and staff across Archdiocesan agencies 
  • Support Directors and Coordinators of Archdiocesan Agencies to identify opportunities to innovate, enhance and streamline agency service
  • Coordinate a range of projects and initiatives, ensuring a positive impact for clients
  • Contribute to ongoing support through the distinctive teachings, ethos and values of the Catholic Church
  • Oversee financials for agencies, including monitoring of costs and expenses to assist in budget preparation 
  • Provide an annual report on agency operations 
  • Develop, lead and manage the performance of Agency Directors and Coordinators 
  • Provide support outside of traditional working hours as and when required 

 

ABOUT YOU:

 

Ideal Skills:

 

As a practising Catholic, you will have:

  • A qualification in theology, ecclesiology, missiology or a similar and related discipline 
  • Proven experience in developing alignment between mission, strategic priorities and influence positive organisational culture
  • A strong mission focus
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering effective and efficient strategic plans and service models across diverse organisations 
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement 
  • Impeccable time management 
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and positively lead a change agenda in a complex organisational environment
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, facilitation and engagement skills 
  • Experience in change management 
  • A servant leadership mindset 
  • An alignment to the mission of the Catholic Church 
  • High attention to detail and the ability to balance competing priorities 
  • Driver’s License

  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and confidentiality 
  • Show initiative and resilience 
  • Understand the role and structures of the Catholic Church in contemporary Australian society including its social teaching

Desirable:

  • A qualification in Business Management 
  • Experience in project management and organisational transformation 
  • Strong financial acumen and previous experience managing budgets
  • An understanding of the structures of the Catholic Church 

 

 

The successful applicant will be subject to Federal Police Clearance, Working with Children and Medical Check.
