JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on families in need? Do you have a background in Social Work or Advocacy? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for you!

We are thrilled to introduce a new and essential role– Family Advocate. As a Family Advocate, you will play a pivotal role in providing support and advocacy services to families affected by the findings of the SA Paediatric Cochlear Implant Program Review.

This is a 6 Month Part Time Contract – 30 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the program review findings and government responses.
  • Assist families in comprehending the report’s recommendations and implications for their child’s future care.
  • Provide advocacy and counselling services to support.
  • Offer referrals to legal and counselling services when needed.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with SA Health and other relevant services.
  • Maintain thorough and up-to-date client records and case summaries.
  • Engage in regular reflective supervision with a supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work or equivalent with at least two years of relevant experience.
  • Professional experience in advocacy or case management for vulnerable individuals.
  • Expertise in counseling people facing distress and grief.
  • Familiarity with working from a trauma-informed perspective.
