Location: Sydney, Illawarra and South Coast or Newcastle Australia

Job Description:

The Mental Health Movement Mental Health Trainer and Facilitator will be responsible for delivering high-quality Mental Health Movement mental health training programs and facilitating various workshops and courses to companies and organisations across Australia. This role requires a deep understanding of mental health and mental illness, strong communication and presentation skills, and the ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate will possess relevant qualifications and experience in the mental health education and training sector, and a passion for promoting positive mental well-being.

The selected candidate will be required to complete our Mental Health Movement onboarding program, along with other relevant training and skills competencies, to deliver our various workshops, courses and programs as part of our service offerings. 

This role will provide contract services, based on booking requirements and facilitator skills and experience. Volume of work depends on client needs and trainer skills, experience, and availability. The selected candidate be willing and able to travel, including interstate is a MUST in the role. The role is not a 9-5 and requires flexible working hours and relevant travel.

This is a contracting role to start, with the potential to transition into a full-time position. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work towards Mental Health Movement’s vision, mission and values.
  • Deliver specific Mental Health Movement mental health training programs including various workshops and courses, ensuring they align with the needs of diverse audiences and organisations.
  • Facilitate engaging and interactive Mental Health Movement workshops, courses and programs, using a variety of instructional techniques and resources to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Draw on practice wisdom to ensure that course material has a strong skills-development focus.
  • Prepare for course facilitation by reviewing all content to be highly familiar with it prior to any training delivery.
  • Facilitate engaging, interactive learning sessions in both face-to-face and online modalities, incorporating Adult Learning Principles.
  • Deliver accurate and up-to-date information on mental health topics, including evidence-based practices, recovery-oriented approaches, and strategies for self-care. 
  • Foster a safe and non-judgmental learning environment that encourages dialogue, questions, and active participation from participants.
  • Utilise effective communication skills to engage with participants, address their concerns, and provide ongoing support and guidance.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, developments, and changes in mental health policies and regulations. 
  • Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of Mental Health Movement training programs, gathering feedback from participants and making necessary adjustments for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports related to training activities, participant attendance, and evaluations aligned with Mental Health Movement processes. 

Qualifications:

Essential: At least 2 or more of the following qualifications: 

  • Cert IV in: Mental Health, Alcohol or Other Drugs, Community Services, Workplace Training and Assessment, Work Health and Safety and or Counselling. 
  • Diploma in: Mental Health, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling and or Community Services. 
  • Relevant qualifications and certifications related to mental health training: For example Mental Health First Aid Train the Trainer qualification, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills and Training (ASIST) qualification. 

Desirable:

  • Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Education and or Social Work. 
  • Lived experience of mental health issues and recovery as a consumer, carer or family member.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in delivering mental health training programs and facilitating workshops and courses.
  • In-depth knowledge of various mental health conditions, recovery models, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles and culturally sensitive practices.
  • Strong presentation, public speaking, and facilitation skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences and learning styles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Empathetic, non-judgmental, and patient approach when addressing mental health challenges.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficient computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office and online training platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
