Primary Objective

The Court Support Case Worker will support men and women who identify as victims of Domestic Violence interacting with Criminal Justice system in relation to criminal proceeding. This is a new pilot project funded by the department of Justice and Attorney General which provides additional support to those attending court (generally as witnesses) for criminal matters related to Domestic and Family Violence matters.

The primary responsibilities of this role includes:

  • Schedule Intake appointments
  • Completing risk assessments and safety planning (CRASF tool)
  • Provide information on available supports.
  • Assist in the preparation of victim impact statements.
  • Support and Educate clients on the court processes and timeframes.
  • Support to be on the Victims Register
  • Provide support during court proceedings.
  • Assist clients to understand, manage expectations and potential outcome of proceedings.
  • Collaborate with other Stakeholders and build relationships to enable effective operation of service.
  • Qualifications and Experience

    Degree or Diploma in relevant social sciences with relevant experience

    Desirable – Experience providing Court Support Services and Case Management

    Current C or CA class Driver’s license (QLD)

    Core Competencies

    Knowledge of Domestic and Family Violence Issues: Deep understanding of the complexities of domestic and family violence, its causes, impacts, and prevention strategies. This includes knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.

    Operational Management: Skills in managing daily operations, including resources, budgeting, reporting, and ensuring services meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.

    Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders including team members, clients, community groups, and government bodies.

    Crisis Management: Ability to respond effectively to crisis situations, providing guidance, support and ensuring client safety.

    Cultural Competency: Understanding and respect for diversity and the ability to provide culturally sensitive services.

    Ethics and Confidentiality: Upholding high ethical standards and understanding the importance of maintaining client confidentiality.

    The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate entitlement to work in Australia, and to disclose any pre-existing injury or disease which may be adversely affected by undertaking the inherent requirements of the position.

    This position requires the completion of an Australian Federal Police check, NDIS disability worker screening check, and attainment of a Blue Card for working with children, prior to commencement.
