The Family Violence Support Worker role is a fixed-term, part time role 0.7FTE) until June 2024.  This is a truly rewarding opportunity for a dedicated family violence professional to join an established, high performing team of likeminded individuals who thrive working in a supportive environment.

As a specialist family violence support worker you will be responsible for providing high quality, individualised support to victim survivors of family violence residing in Casey, Cardinia or Dandenong LGA’s.   Working in alignment with the MARAM framework, you will be engaging victim survivors in ongoing risk assessment and management to help mitigate risk to increase safety, whist utilising a coaching framework to develop victim survivor’s capabilities to live a safe and independent life free from violence.  You will also provide high quality responses and interventions at times of family violence crisis which may include emergency accommodation in line with the Crisis Response Model.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Bachelor level qualifications in social work, social welfare, community services or related discipline that meet the mandatory minimum qualifications for specialist family violence practitioners.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in family violence sector (preferred), homelessness or welfare sectors.
  • Ability to complete family violence risk assessments and safety planning and integrate these into support planning with consumers.
  • Ability to provide family violence case management to victim survivors in line with DFFH and Family Safety Victoria service standards and models of support, including crisis response.
  • High level of understanding of the complex needs of families including the impact of family violence, homelessness and other stressors on children and families.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 and Child Information Sharing Scheme, Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme and Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and the Victorian Housing and Homelessness systems.
  • Ability to support consumers to access a safe and secure housing outcome.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, case notes and databases using relevant systems and platforms including SHIP.
  • Ability to use a range of IT/web based applications to manage workflow in accordance with organisational requirements and privacy principles.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent work/time management skills.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant pre-employment screening and checks.
  • Willingness to promote and support practices that are inclusive, culturally responsive, safe and accessible.
  • Current Victorian Drivers’ Licence.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant pre-employment screening and checks.
