About the Role

The Brief Interventions Family Worker will work within The Geelong Project and provide high quality therapeutic responses to both young people and their families. The role works to address issues identified in the family such as conflict and complex dynamics. The Brief Intervention Family Worker will also be co-located in schools and provide assertive outreach to students and their families.

The role works to address risk factors leading to youth homelessness, youth offending and school disengagement, and develop protective factors that will enable young people to develop aspirations, make pro social connections and engage in a pathway that will lead to productive, healthy and safe lives.

  • Part-time position, working 30.4 hours per week
  • Fixed term to 31 December 2024
  • $94,077 p/a (pro rata) + super + salary packaging

About You

  • Qualification or equivalent in Youth, Social Work or Community Welfare (Diploma+) and experience in client services functions.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in delivering risk and needs assessments, case management, client advocacy, and therapeutic interventions in line with Best Interests Framework for case practice.
  • Ability to form a sound ecological perspective of client circumstances, with minimal information to rapidly determine required support using the appropriate tools.
  • Demonstrated skills in risk and needs assessments,
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the factors that can impact on a parent’s ability to care for young people and knowledge of the service system and resources available that can support parents and young people.
  • Understanding of the purpose and expectations of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a child safe organisation in both practice and culture
