This is a Social Worker Level 3 position. However, if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 will be considered. The selection criteria reflects the requirements for a Level 3 applicant. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with his/her years of experience and current level at the commencement of the appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for Level 3.

Where you’ll be working:
The Joint Child Protection Response Program (JCPRP) provides seamless service response to children and young people at risk of significant harm, as a result of sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme neglect. JCPRP is a tri-agency program delivered by the NSW Police Force, Department of Communities and Justice and NSW Health. We are seeking an experienced, resilient professional to join our dedicated team.

About the role:

Newcastle JCPRP is located in Honeysuckle and part of Violence Abuse and Neglect (VAN) Hunter.

  • This role provides an integrated psycho-social and therapeutic health response to JCPRP clients, who are victims of sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme neglect.
  • You will be supported by the Senior Health Clinicians and the team at JCPRP and provided on the job mentoring and training that is tailored to the service.
  • Formal ongoing education pathways are available to enhance capacity, knowledge, and skills to ensure confidence in clinical practice within this rewarding role 

Requirements:

  • Must hold as a minimum a bachelor degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Minimum of 3 years full-time experience of trauma informed interventions with children/young people and their parents/ guardian and family.

About you:

  • As a Health clinician at JCPRP you will have experience working in a fast paced environment with demonstrated capacity in acute child protection, trauma informed care and understanding the potential long term health impacts for people who have experienced violence, abuse and neglect
  • You will have strong skills in crisis intervention, experience in conducting psycho-social assessments, intervention planning and care co-ordination
  • You will be effective in working collaboratively with external services and internal health systems that ensure the holistic needs of the child, young person and family are met
  • You will have a solid ability to provide culturally safe and competent services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people referred to the service and people form cultural and linguistically diverse communities
