JOB DESCRIPTION

Note: This is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Identified Position authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW. 

 

The Manager of the Bila Muuji Drug and Alcohol Network (BMDAN) provides advanced clinical training service to the BMDAN network. This position manages the Bila Muuji Hub in Dubbo, in which staff provide outreach and telehealth workforce support, specialist medical support, consultancy on complex cases, clinical supervision and service development for partner Aboriginal Health Services in the Murdi Paaki region. This position also supports primary health care partners to develop, implement and evaluate local plans to improve service coordination, deliver drug and alcohol interventions, and develop workforce and community capacity.

Please note that regional NSW travel is required in this role on a regular basis.

 

Key Selection Criteria 

• Minimum bachelor level tertiary qualification in Health, Social Science, Psychology or similar field and or extensive experience in a similar field. 

• Must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (N.B. An applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW); 

• An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, and ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. 

• Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring teams. 

• Experience in developing and facilitating evidence based clinical education programs. 

• Significant experience working with Aboriginal communities, clients with complex needs. 

• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills. 

 

Additional Requirements 

• Possession of a current ‘C’ Class Open Driver’s License valid in NSW is required 

• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate 

• Current NSW Working with Children’s Check 

• Current Criminal History check 

• Proof of vaccination provided upon acceptance of appointment

 

Responsibilities of Position

The following key responsibilities may be modified from time to time and are a guide (i.e.other responsibilities may be identified). With the following responsibilities prioritised or appropriately delegated to ensure safety and quality care of Client, Employees and the Service. 

• This position provides the day-to-day management of the Bila Muuji Drug and Alcohol hub and will provide leadership and guidance to the team, including setting priorities, monitoring work outcomes and ensuring work is performed in alignment with the organisational goals, service delivery contracts and Bila Muuji policies and procedures. 

• Support primary health care partners to coordinate local drug and alcohol service delivery arrangements by working on systems for primary health screening and intervention for Drug and alcohol misuse. 

• Develop partnerships with local communities to build, implement and evaluate initiatives and projects that are aimed at increasing community awareness of substance use and misuse. 

• Enhance and support professional support networks across the drug and alcohol network. 

• Ensure the practice is culturally safe and reflects evidence-informed, good practice standards. 

• Provide statistics, reports and information as required by management. 

• Develop, deliver and evaluate professional training.

 

This position is a contracted to June 30th, 2024 with the possibility of extension.
