Your Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a part-time Clinician to join our team as a Facilitator in the Prison Support Program. In this position, you will be responsible for the delivery of a group program to inmates of a correctional centre. The program is delivered to prisoners who are expected to be released within the next six months and who are housed across the mainstream, protection, and Drug Unit. You will provide education and motivation around achieving and maintaining an alcohol and drug (AOD) free lifestyle upon prisoner’s release.

This role will be working 3 days per week. On Wednesdays and Fridays each week, you will be working from the Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre. 

On Thursdays each week you will complete administration tasks associated with this position. You will be able to work from either the LLW Beenleigh, Chambers Flat or Spring Hill office, depending on your preferred location.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Effectively facilitate groups and deliver the program in a professional and client friendly manner.
  • Conduct pre and post testing of all DO-IT program participants.
  • Apply, evaluate, and continually develop clinical knowledge and skills to competently conduct professional and clinical services to “best practice” standards, thereby achieving optimum client outcomes.
  • Regularly review and refine the DO-IT Program to ensure it is relevant, up to date, client friendly and provides a high quality service.
  • Effectively promote the DO-IT Program internally and externally and explore potential opportunities for expansion.
  • Attend meetings and other networking groups as required and directed
  • Ensure resources and/or knowledge of self and others is utilised to deliver care in the most effective and timely manner.
  • Provide service that respects and protects the rights of clients and maintains their privacy and confidentiality.

The gross hourly pay rate ranges between $41.52 and $44.68 per hour, depending on your knowledge, skills and experience. On top of this, you will receive 11% superannuation payment, leave loading (17.5%), and 5 additional days (pro rata if you are part-time) of paid wellbeing leave. You can also significantly increase your take home pay via the salary sacrificing option available to you. 


What You’ll Bring

To succeed in this role, there are some essentials you’ll need:

Essential:

  • Minimum Diploma in AOD or Community Services with experience working in an AOD or Mental Health role.
  • Ability to easily engage with a diverse range of individuals and groups.
  • An in-depth knowledge of issues related to the misuse of alcohol and other drugs.
  • Sound interpersonal skills, including a high standard of written and oral communication skills, the demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships and to address & resolve conflict.
  • Ability to prioritise clinical and administrative duties, including the effective and efficient planning and organisation of a complex caseload.
  • Dedication to ensuring confidentiality.
  • Current Australian Driver’s licence.

Whist not essential we would also love you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social Worker, Human Services, Social Science or Psychology.
