JOB DESCRIPTION

IDENTIFIED POSITION – (To perform this role it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person).

1 x Male designated role            1 x Non designated role        both full time

As a Family Support Worker you will play a crucial role in engaging with families, building rapport, and providing empathetic support to facilitate positive change. Your mission will be to empower families to achieve their goals, strengthen their connections, and enhance their overall well-being. You will work collaboratively with a team, demonstrating accountability, transparency, and exceptional communication skills.

Jinndi Mibunn BHDC works with families who want to create change to support life skills, attachment and behavioural growth, early education, safe housing environment and links to community. The program is designed to strengthen knowledge of services and connections in community. 

Working as part of a team, responsible to the CEO and Operations Manager and under day-to-day supervision of the team leader, the role will include the provision of case management, information and referral, and advocacy to people with complex needs. 

Essential Criteria                                            

  • An understanding of professional and specialised knowledge required to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, disadvantaged clients, and human service agencies.
  • Relevant qualifications and/or relevant 2 years minimum work experience in a similar role, where you can demonstrate an understanding of the purpose of family support in a cultural context. 
  • A thorough knowledge of work activities and procedures related to case coordination of people with complex needs and the ability to exercise initiative in the application of these procedures.
  • A sound knowledge of procedural/operational methods relating to the workplace including case notes, updating data systems, and effectively managing time.
  • A working knowledge of statutory requirements relevant to this role.
  • You will be passionate about advocating for families and a strong commitment to social justice.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently in the field and in community members homes, schools, in other work environments.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft and database programs.
  • Ability to be flexible towards your work commitments and hours.
  • Holder of a current QLD Blue Card (No Card – No Start policy applies)
  • Current drivers licence
  • Confirmation of being fully covid vaccinated.
  • Possess or able to obtain a criminal history check (LCS2)
