JOB DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Safeguarding Specialist to join our growing team. This position plays a crucial role in promoting legislative and policy frameworks aimed at ensuring a safe environment for children and young people across Catholic Education and Care sites.

You will be responsible for:

  • Contributing to the enhancement of safeguarding processes aligned with the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
  • Coordination of employer investigations, including working with the Professional Standards Office to manage National Redress Scheme applications and civil claims.
  • Collaborating with external agencies to make reports and share information in adherence to information sharing protocols that prioritise the safety and well-being of children and young people.
  • Liaising with Insurers regarding notifiable events and potential claims.
  • Providing expert advice to Principals and Case Managers in relation to complex contemporary and historical child safeguarding matters.
  • Efficiently managing responses to subpoenas.
  • Participating in the review and improvement of safeguarding policies and procedures.

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about safeguarding the well-being of children and young people who possesses the following:

  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree. Legal qualifications are highly desirable, with or without a current practising certificate.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, exceptional presentation skills, and a demonstrated ability in business writing.
  • Substantial experience in case management of complex and sensitive matters.
  • A proven track record of productive engagement with external organisations.
  • An excellent work ethic, decisiveness, and the ability to initiate urgent actions to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Experience overseeing multiple projects and a proven ability to adapt to emerging and competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical background, impeccable attention to detail, and exemplary organisational skills.
