headspace provides support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing mild to moderate or emerging mental health issues. The multidisciplinary team at headspace Liverpool work to improve health, social, vocational and educational outcomes for young people.
 
Grand Pacific Health is the lead agency of headspace Liverpool.  We are a not-for-profit, primary health care organisation providing locally-tailored, high quality physical and mental health services across NSW and the ACT.
 
About the position
 
The Youth Access Counsellor will provide a welcoming first point of contact for young people seeking support from headspace Liverpool and their family and carers. 
 
The Youth Access Counsellor (YAC) is part of the clinical team and provides intake, assessments, early intervention counselling and support services to young people aged 12 25 who have mild to moderate mental health concerns. 
This is a full-time, fixed term position until 30 June 2025 and is based in Liverpool.
 
We are looking for someone with:
 
  1. Qualifications in Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Psychology or other relevant field including professional registration as appropriate to profession. 
  2. Demonstrated understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of young people with mental health and/or substance use problems including an ability to engage and communicate effectively with young people.
  3. Demonstrated ability to undertake assessment and screening of young people and their carers to determine needs and assist service users to access necessary services.
  4. Experience in providing counselling services to young people.
