About the role:

  • Full time (35 hours/week) – Mon-Fri only 
  • Maximum Term Contract until 30 June 2026
  • Based at Ngarrunga Women and Children’s Safety Service in the Hawkesbury
  • People from CALD backgrounds are strong encouraged to apply

The position is part of a case work team in creating support to enable women and women with children who have escaped an unsafe living environment to stay connected to their cultural and local community networks.  

The position will be required to liaise and provide information and support on matters pertaining to domestic and family violence to communities within the Hawkesbury Local Government Areas – with particular focus on emerging culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

The position also has a responsibility to negotiate and develop constructive working relationships between the service, Link Wentworth Housing, our program partner, The Women’s Cottage, local and other services who provide supports for emerging CALD communities and other community support services.

The position will support residents to develop and maintain connections with other support services during and after their stay at Ngarrunga. As well as support other relevant services to provide outreach services and groups to residents.

What we are looking for:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Qualifications/training in domestic and family violence (DFV)
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with emerging communities
  • Understanding of the housing issues facing women and children experiencing/escaping DFV
  • Demonstrated understanding of the cultural impacts of DFV on women and children from CALD and emerging communities
  • Ability to connect with/support members of CALD and other emerging communities
  • Knowledge of the community service and SHS sector

You will also have:

  • Being female is a genuine requirement of this position in accordance with Division 2 Section 31 of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977
  • A commitment to the ethos of social and affordable housing 
  • A commitment to social justice, social inclusion and trauma informed support 
  • A commitment to Link Wentworth’s values of Customer Focus, Respect, Integrity, Compassion &   Ambition 
  • A valid National Police Check (less than six (6) months old) to the satisfaction of Link Wentworth 
  • At least two (2) COVID-19 vaccinations, meaning, having received the primary course of an Australian Government approved COVID-19 vaccination 
  • A current driver’s licence valid in the state of NSW 
  • A current NSW employment Working with Children’s Check (WWCC)
