Community Engagement/Outreach Worker Carers NSW

JOB DESCRIPTION

Carers NSW is the peak organisation for carers in NSW. We are a not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering carers across NSW and improving their quality of life through activities, programs, training and policy advice. We advocate for carers of all ages and circumstances.

As the Carer Gateway Service Provider (CGSP) in Region 4 of NSW (Central Coast, Hunter New England and North Coast) we are excited to be growing our team and are looking for a Community Engagement/Outreach Worker to work across the region, based in Newcastle.

 As the Community Engagement/Outreach Officer, you will be responsible for connecting with community organisations, mental health providers, carer support groups and service providers to create awareness, generate referrals and encourage carers to access Carer Gateway services.

Responsibilities include:

* Networking and build relationships with community organisations, service providers and mental health organisations to facilitate carer referrals to Carer Gateway

* Liaise with service providers to provide advice on Carer Gateway services available and other forms of support

* Promote awareness of the program through presentations, informal meetings and dissemination of promotional material to possible referral sources

* Attend forums or networking activities to promote Carer Gateway and Carers NSW programs and services

 

This is a contract position until 30 June 2024, full time or part time considered. 

 Our ideal candidate should possess the following skills and attributes:

*  Demonstrated experience in liaising with community organisations, service providers and mental health organisations

·        Knowledge of, and experience working in, the community care and health systems and other programs relevant to carers

·        Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds

·        Knowledge of social and demographic features, common challenges and geography of part or all of the region (Central Coast, Hunter New England and North Coast).

·        Strong computer, administration and organisational skills.

* Ability to work autonomously whilst still meeting the operational and delivery needs of the business.

·        Current NSW drivers licence and the capacity to travel across the region.

Salary and Benefits
