The Salvation Army Doorways program provides person-centred care to community members who are in a financial crisis or suffering other forms of hardship or distress. Our practitioners are mindful of trauma informed practices, working within a strength-based context with holistic principles to build individual capacity, resilience, and well-being.

The Role

You will be a values-driven individual who will be responsible for the delivery of Doorways services at a site or cluster of sites, including leading emergency relief assessment and distribution, and managing the Doorways employee and volunteer workforce on site.

You are passionate about building and leading an effective, high functioning team of employees and volunteers providing day to day management. You are driven to ensure the ongoing services for the Doorways program, whilst also creating linkages with the community to promote awareness of Doorways.

This is a Max Term (1 Jan 2025 pending successful Government funding) full-time position (38hrs per week) located in Port Macquarie NSW.

This role pay point is SCHADS level 5.

You will successfully

  • Work collaboratively with Corps Officers, Volunteers, and other co-located Mission Leaders to deliver an integrated approach to delivering Doorways at a face to face Doorways site and a cluster of local sites
  • Build and maintain relationships within TSA and with local community stakeholders to identify local resources, community needs, and opportunities for collaboration
  • Oversee the delivery of Doorways services on site, leading a team of Case Workers, ER Assessor and volunteers to provide effective services
  • Support the Doorways team to deliver services that meet practice standards and ensure service delivery targets and funding body requirements are being met
  • Coach and guide case workers on difficult and complex cases with the view to build capacity and skill
  • Coordinate onsite material aid and distribution across the area as required
  • Create and leverage relationships to maximise potential for local in-kind and financial donations

You Will Bring

  • Degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology or other Community/Human Service discipline
  • Experience in conflict resolution and dealing with unpredictable situations and behaviour
  • Experience working with people who experience trauma and/or exhibit multiple complex service needs and/or are chronically disadvantage
  • A current and valid NSW Working with Children’s Check
  • A valid driving license
  • A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
  • Relevant experience working in the community services sector, including in managing teams
