your opportunity

Based at a confidential location in the Scenic Rim and reporting to the Domestic and Family Violence Service Manager, this role has responsibility for providing therapeutic counselling support for women who have experienced domestic and family violence and complex trauma. You will work closely with the Child and Family Counsellor.

Our Domestic and Family Violence Refuge is a welcoming haven for women and their children who have experienced the trauma of domestic/family violence. All refuge staff work towards assisting families to regain independence & safety following domestic and family violence.

Your role will include:

• Provide counselling interventions and referrals
• Facilitate workshops and support the development of workshops
• Provide outreach support via telephone
• Participate in collaborative case reviews

This is a permanent part time position (4 days per week), working Monday to Friday. You will also participate in the on-call roster.

We are looking for a flexible and adaptable individual who will work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve best practice outcomes for women and families.

You will bring:

• passion, commitment and belief in young people
• bachelor level qualifications in psychology, social work or counselling
• at least 3years experience working therapeutically within a trauma informed framework
• demonstrated understanding of domestic and family violence and the impact on children and family functioning
• experience working with groups and an understanding of group dynamics and learning styles
• demonstrated understanding of trauma and trauma responses
