Opportunity is available for an experienced Grief, Loss & Trauma Specialist to join the team at CRAICCHS in Cherbourg, Wondai and Kingaroy to provide Mental Health Support to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members of the local community during the lead up to the scheduled Referendum and to provide counselling support after the event.
The position will be for a contracted period of up to 3 months. If relevant, other possible opportunities may be available for consideration after the completion of the contract.

About CRAICCHS:
Cherbourg Regional Aboriginal and Islander Community Controlled Health Service (CRAICCHS) is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Organisation.
CRAICCHS objective is to provide increased access to quality primary health care, social and emotional wellbeing services to the Communities in the South Burnett regions.
Key Duties:
The duties will be diverse, and although not limited to, will include:
- Work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait clients requiring support during the pre and post referendum periods.
- Support the Social Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) team which coordinates and provides for culturally appropriate clinic and community-based services.
- Deliver safe and culturally appropriate holistic counselling services to clients.
- Coordinate and lead the delivery of services in accordance with the case management plans and / or team care arrangements.
- Provide solution focused interventions and specialised support to clients.
- Coordinate and facilitate effective support structures, including external agencies.
- Empower and foster self- determination through participation, access to services, resources and opportunities within the community.
- Maintain a safe environment for clients and staff.
Key Requirements:
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:
- Counselling qualifications – preference will be shown to applicants with relevant bachelor’s degree level qualifications.
- Cert IV in Mental Health – not essential but preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant field experience.
- The proven ability to work in a culturally sensitive and effective manner with clients within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community.
- The capacity to build relationships quickly within the community and with other service providers.
- Current driver licence.
- The ability to travel within the region if needed.
- Flexibility to be able to work outside of normal hours if needed.
- Current Blue Card (working with children and young people)
- Minimum 2 covid vaccinations.
