JOB DESCRIPTION

Employment Type: Temporary Full Time (36weeks)

Remuneration: $53.23 – $63.67 per hour – dependent on qualification
Hours Per Week: 38 hours per week

Working as part of a whole of government response to the natural disasters in NSW. 
 
Working collaboratively with existing health services, regional hospitals and emergency services agencies in the affected communities.
 
Working within a stepped care framework in collaboration with general practitioners, allied health professionals, schools, public mental health services, and private psychologists and psychiatrists.
 
Working closely with the local Primary Health Network to ensure people are able to access the right level of mental health care for their individual needs.
 
The objectives of the Disaster Recover Team are to:

  • Ensure that disaster affected individuals can access appropriate and timely clinical services to deal with mental health needs arising from the disasters.
  • Target vulnerable population groups across the region.
  • Ensure emergency services staff and volunteers can access appropriate and timely clinical services to deal with mental health needs arising from the disasters.

The position is currently funded until June 2024.

If you have:

  • Tertiary qualifications and, where applicable, membership of the relevant association or registration with the relevant board, in one of the following disciplines: Social Work, Occupational Therapist, Psychology, Nursing. To be appointed to a specific discipline and grade/level, please refer to the Essential Requirements section for registration and qualification requirements
  • Expertise and advanced practice skills with the ability to provide an expert consultancy and clinical service for people experiencing mental health problems as a result of a disaster event
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums, including effective negotiation skills with a range of stakeholders and proven application of practice development frameworks to improve clinical practice
  • Ability to foster interagency collaboration to support coordinated and integrated mental health services within a stepped care model
