JOB DESCRIPTION

A rare opportunity to work in community education development.

Two years part time, 3 days a week with the potential for an ongoing position.

SCHADS Level 4 ( $39.26 to $42.25 per hour)

Aboriginality is an Essential Selection Criteria for this position.

 

Your purpose will be to facilitate community engagement and development through training and adult education with a view to growth in the levels of participation in education in the aboriginal community.

 

Your reward will be to pioneer a new level of community led growth and development as the link between two long standing community based not for profits across the Penrith And Blue Mountains LGAs

 

Your responsibilities will be to:

Collaborate with and support the work of Koolyangarra Aboriginal Family Centre through the following activities.

Identifying and documenting formal and informal networks within the Aboriginal community throughout the Penrith and Blue Mountains Local Government Areas.

Establishing and maintaining relationships with, and where appropriate participation in, those networks.

Identifying and documenting community and government organisations providing services for the Aboriginal community.

Establishing and maintaining appropriate relationships with those organisations.

Developing referral pathways to Community College and other education and training programs.

Liaise with the Community College Student Engagement Facilitator to create permeable boundaries between the Aboriginal Community and College Programs.

Identifying training and education responses to community needs.

Participate in and advise on the development of Community College responses to identified needs.

Facilitate the development and maintenance of an alliance and network of education and training services engaged with the Aboriginal community.

Engage with and participate in the Community College sector Outreach Community of Practice and in particular with other College’s engaged in outreach to their Aboriginal Communities

 

Your key relationships will be:

Externally with Aboriginal community organisations and networks. Relevant services including government and housing.

Internally in Koolyangarra Aboriginal Family Centre with the Team Leader, Aboriginal Community Worker, Aboriginal Early Childhood and Aboriginal Family Workers, Aboriginal Family Practitioners

Internally in Nepean Community College with the Principal, Student Engagement Facilitator, Program Manager and Trainers.
