What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field and a minimum of 12 months experience working with complex clients. 
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in Positive Behaviour Support, in line with the NDIS Commission Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework. Practitioners must demonstrate that they have been endorsed as ‘Suitable’ to provide behaviour support under the NDIS. 
  • Knowledge of contemporary disability practice and Trauma-Informed Positive Behaviour Support is highly desirable. 
  • Experience working with vulnerable cohorts, their support networks and care teams, including those impacted by family violence and involved with Child Protection or Criminal Justice Systems. 
  • Competency in using evidence-based strategies and person-centred supports that address the needs of the person with a disability and the underlying causes of behaviours of concern while safeguarding their dignity and quality of life in line with NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework, NDIS Behaviour Support Rules 2018 and OH&S legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others, such as large care teams, to promote positive outcomes for individuals with a disability. 
  • Well-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
