headspace provides support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing mild to moderate or emerging mental health issues. The multidisciplinary team at headspace Bega work to improve health, social, vocational and educational outcomes for young people.
 
Grand Pacific Health is the lead agency of headspace Bega.  We are a not-for-profit, primary health care organisation providing locally-tailored, high quality physical and mental health services across NSW and the ACT.

About the position
 
The Mental Health Clinician will work collaboratively with a young person and their family/carers to identify support needs, goals and to develop collaborative care plans. They will provide high quality psycho-social assessment and evidence-based, focused interventions. 
 
This position works closely with the other members of the headspace Bega team and external service providers and works to maximise care outcomes for young people referred to headspace Bega. 
 
The Mental Health Clinician will be based at our headspace Bega service and may be required at times to work from our outreach hubs (Eden/ Cooma) as required. 

This is a fixed-term, part-time (30 hours a week) opportunity to 30 June 2025. Hours and days are negotiable.

We are looking for someone with:
 
  1. Current or working towards full AHPRA registration as a clinical psychologist, registered psychologist, or occupational therapist (accredited with OTA as meeting the Australian Competency Standards for occupational therapists in mental health), or accreditation with the AASW as a Mental Health Social Worker
  2. Experience in assessment and diagnosis of mental health disorders, and provision of evidence-based focused psychological strategies 
  3. Demonstrated understanding of key issues in relation to the health and wellbeing needs of young people with mental health and/or substance use problems. 
  4. Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate effectively with young people and their family, friends, or carers.
