Womens Heath & Family Services has a well-established history of providing peer support for women in the recovery from an eating disorder and has expanded services to a broader group now including all genders, ages 16 years +, parents and carers, offering assistance through individual sessions and group programs.

About the opportunity

We are looking for a motivated Mental Health Worker with lived experience of an eating disorder, and subsequent recovery, to join our Body Esteem Programme (BEP). This is a rewarding and challenging role where you will work with the wider team in providing support and assistance to people experiencing an eating disorder from the age of 16+ and their families. 

You will be responsible for providing emotional and practical support to participants on an individual and group basis, assisting clients to implement recovery strategies, navigate treatment options, evaluate clients’ outcomes, and promote hope for recovery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Promoting hope for recovery, choice and self-determination, and the importance of living well using shared experiential knowledge, skills, and strategies. 
  • Assisting clients to develop Individual Care Plans, implement recovery strategies and assist to navigate support and treatment options.
  • Providing emotional and practical support to participants on an individual and group basis.
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of client support in both group and individual formats

In this role you will need strong organisational and communication skills, the capacity to work with a variety of stakeholders and be motivated by seeing other people achieve. 

Tertiary qualification(s) in mental health or equivalent is required for this role. An essential criteria is lived experience of an eating disorder with subsequent recovery (and being free from requiring treatment for a minimum of two years). 

This is a permanent part-time position, working 3 days per week from both our Northbridge and Joondalup sites. Travel to other locations may be required on occasion.
