The Hospital Research Foundation Group – Creative Health is driving collaboration, innovation and research to develop best-practice arts, music and health programs to improve the quality and experience of healthcare for patients, their families, and employees across hospital and healthcare sites in South Australia.

We are seeking an outstanding Art Therapist to join our clinical care team providing Art Therapy services within the Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) to improve patients’ physical, cognitive and/or emotional well-being.

Reporting to the Program Director- Creative Health, the Art Therapist will work closely with the members of multidisciplinary teams to develop, coordinate and integrate treatment plans to ensure the delivery of quality care through the provision of Art Therapy programs. The role will be based primarily at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

 Role responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Art Therapy program to meet social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of consumers working both individually and in group
  • Develop and refine referral and clinical reporting mechanisms as required by Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN)
  • Provide Art Therapy information to staff, patients, and their families
  • Contribute to the development of services by providing consultancy to other departments as required
  • Provide relevant work statistics and other related information as required including
    no-identifying case examples as required
  • Actively promote the Art Therapy discipline and its associated activities

You will ideally have:

  • Completion of Masters of Art Therapy or equivalent from an accredited University or provider
  • Must be a professional member registered with Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Therapies Association (ANZACATA)
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, self-motivating, flexible, creative, and reliable
  • Ability to work as a team and with limited supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively within a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Ability to assess clients, evaluate progress and provide clear, concise written and verbal feedback to clients and staff
