What’s the job?
Reporting to Susan Anderson Lead Counsellor, is to manage student enquiries relating to Torrens Counselling services. This role will include brief case management and triaging to appropriate internal/external services and working closely with the counselling team to help manage short term care for students’ wellbeing until they can access appropriate professional support.

Day-to-day accountabilities:

Respond to student requests for care and triage to support service
Provide initial intake and assessment for mental health issue
Work from a trauma-informed framework
Develop and maintain relationships with internal support services
Develop and maintain a comprehensive external specialist referral list
Maintain compliant, comprehensive and confidential records
Collaborate with staff members (when required) to provide support to students
Administrative duties including emailing students, booking students in for counselling appointments

This is a permanent position with hybrid working arrangements location Surry Hills Campus or Leura, Blue Mountains.

Who you are:

• Counselling Proficiency: Possess the requisite qualifications in counselling, emphasizing your professional expertise.
• Social Work and Counselling Mastery: Leverage your experience in counselling and social work, enriching the depth of support you provide.
• Educational Sector Insight: Prior experience within an educational setting is highly advantageous, showcasing your understanding of the unique academic environment.
• Communication Skills: Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including adept report writing and impactful presentation abilities.
• Tech Proficiency: Showcase your command of technology, including proficiency in tools such as MS Office and databases.
• Confidentiality Expert: Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest levels of privacy and confidentiality while providing essential feedback to stakeholders.
• Professionalism Advocate: Maintain a consistently professional and objective demeanour, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and fully compliant, while delivering support services in a timely and efficient manner.
• Versatile Team Player: Prove your adaptability and capacity to work autonomously or seamlessly integrate as a valuable team member.
• Membership : ACA/PACFA/AASW required
