JOB DESCRIPTION

The King’s College is a Pre-kindergarten to Year 12 coeducational school with a current enrolment of 840 students, situated in Wellard in the southern corridor of the metropolitan area. The College is growing in size and a new Primary School is currently under construction. The College is a ministry of The King’s Chapel and has been offering quality education in the area for over 34 years.

The College’s vision is to provide a Christian education and train its students to “be exceptional”. Students need to believe they can improve and are not locked into certain levels of achievement. This requires a growth mindset from students that is supported by their teachers.

About this role

This role is maternity leave cover for the College School Psychologist. School Counsellors are encouraged to apply. The role descriptor and required qualifications can be adjusted to suit the right applicant.   

School Psychologist serves within the community to enhance educational outcomes and promote the cognitive, social, spiritual, and emotional development of all students. To provide a child and adolescent psychological service in the school and to work with other staff to support students and families. To facilitate access, participation and to maximise educational outcomes for students. In addition, to utilise psychological expertise in education and learning to support and build the capacity of the school community towards the same goals.

Skills and experience

The successful applicant must

  1. Adhere to the ‘Staff Code of Conduct’, ‘Child Safe Policy’ and ‘Statement of Affirmation of Faith’.
  2. Be an active Christian with the ability to demonstrate how your faith informs your practice as a psychologist.
  3. Full AHPRA Registration as a Psychologist.
  4. Previous experience in an educational or clinical setting working with children, adolescents and or families.
  5. Experience in administering and/or interpreting cognitive, behavioural and educational assessments.
  6. All applicants must be eligible to work in Western Australia, have National Police Certificate and have completed a Working with Children Check.
  7. Ability to build positive working relationships with the school staff.
  8. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to students and parents from a range of different backgrounds.
  9. The willingness to participate in professional development as necessary.
  10. Ability to work independently with superior administration and organisational skills.
  11. Ability to collaborate with others in a positive and effective manner.
