About the role

The Complex Care program offers a range of targeted, integrated specialist clinical and non-clinical supports and services to clients and their families and carers with psychosocial disability, dual disability and complex needs who have NDIS plans and/or support packages with the aim of maximising recovery outcomes in a Fee For Service model. Complex Care provides holistic, assertive outreach services including clinical assessments, therapies, behavioural supports, group education and learning, mentoring and coaching, support coordination, life skills and capacity building, NDIS planning and care plan management, and access to service providers. The service operates in the context of local community with a focus on supporting people to achieve their better life goals and empowering to have choice and control over services.

 

We are seeking a compassionate, self-motivated Behaviour Support Practitioner for a fixed term, full time opportunity to work in the Brisbane greater area. You will provide quality behaviour support services to clients with mental health challenges and complex needs in line with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework. With work from home options, you will deliver services face to face in the community and via telehealth.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist behaviour support interventions and write quality positive behaviour support plans for clients and their support networks based on evidence informed functional behavioural assessments. 
  • Apply clinical experience of Behaviour Support Interventions consistent with the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability framework and National Practice Standards.
  • Provide training and support to clients, families and carers as well as support teams on the principles of Positive Behaviour Support and Least Restrictive Practices.
  • Provide training and support to clients, families and carers as well as support teams on the implementation of strategies within a Positive Behaviour Support Plan.
  • Ensure practice is aligned with person centred, trauma informed frameworks which incorporate a neurodiversity affirming lens.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Assessed as Core Practitioner or above within NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework.
  • Tertiary degree qualifications in a relevant Human Services field or other health related field as designated by Mind. Current registration with AHPRA, AASW or equivalent accreditation will be highly regarded.
  • Proven experience in behaviour support, restrictive practices and training in Functional Behavioural analysis and assessment.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues and complex needs.
  • Experience working within diverse and complex stakeholder groups with the ability to advocate for, and inform decisions around least restrictive interventions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of NDIS, Mental Health and Community Services sectors.
