Registered Nurse – ($35.33 – $49.60 per hour)

What you’ll be doing:
The MERIT & Drug Court Programs currently have project funding to temporarily increase our staffing until June 2026 with possibility for extension. We are currently seeking multiple Drug & Alcohol Clinicians to join this team, in either a full time or part time capacity. The position of Drug & Alcohol Clinician – MERIT and Drug Court Programs sits in a well supported multi-disciplinary team, with direct access and support from a senior D & A Clinician, as well as work collaboratively with a wide range of professionals  in Addiction Medicine, Psychology and Nursing. 

This structured program will suit New Graduates looking to learn from a great group of professionals working within well respected and well established programs, as well as mid point or experienced professionals looking to expand their knowledge and practical skills. The MERIT and Drug Court Programs offers candidates a varied workload in a consistent and busy service, that will involve working on both long term and short term cases, as well as attending Penrith, Windsor, Katoomba and Lithgow Courts.  

To provide evidence-based drug and alcohol assessment, case management and counselling services to patients accessing the MERIT and Drug Court programs via the Nepean Blue Mountains LHD Drug and Alcohol Service.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

 

 

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection criteria to be addressed:

  1. Tertiary qualifications, professional registration/membership and significant clinical experience as follows: i) Occupational Therapy – minimum Bachelor Degree and general registration with AHPRA; with clinical experience in a Drug and Alcohol treatment setting or ii) Counselling and Social Work – minimum Bachelor Degree and eligibility for membership of AASW; with clinical experience in a Drug and Alcohol treatment setting or iii) Generalist Psychologist – a four year degree in psychology, being a three year degree with a fourth year honours in psychology; or who has qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer, and has full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia with clinical experience in a Drug and Alcohol treatment setting.
  2. Demonstrated clinical experience in the provision of evidence based interventions for alcohol and other drug using clients.
  3. Demonstrated ability to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders, with a particular focus on Local Health District services, Criminal Justice System, and community-based support services
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team in providing drug and alcohol services to court mandated clients
  5. Proven high quality computer literacy, written and verbal communication including the preparation of court reports and clinical notes
  6. Experience in, or commitment to, working with individuals and families from Indigenous backgrounds and/or diverse
