Headspace provides mental health support to young people aged 12 – 25, with a range of services available for young people experiencing mild to moderate Mental Health difficulties. All of our services are driven by person centred care, with a strong focus on functional recovery, youth specific interventions and support from peers who have experienced the same or similar challenges.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
This newly created leadership position will provide operational and clinical oversight for all severe and complex mental health services provided within headspace.
In this position you will also have responsibility and day to day oversight over one of the severe and complex mental health headspace Teams. This includes overseeing case management, and providing guidance and supervision to staff.
Reporting to the Assistant Clinical Director, you will thrive in this opportunity to:
- Provide operational and clinical oversight for all severe and complex services
- Oversee quality improvement planning and activities for severe and complex services
- Represent Centre Management at all Orygen / YES meetings
- Be responsible for complaint management
- Lead Orygen Fidelity (EPICC) and other audit activities as required and according to policy
- Oversee clinical governance including the development and ongoing review of clinical practice documentation
- Review and oversee program budgets
- Ensure contractual service delivery objectives
- Complete PHN reporting in collaboration with Data and Projects Lead.

This is a permanent, full-time position. The salary ranges between level 7.1 and 7.3 of the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award and will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and experience.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in the role, you will have leadership experience and an understanding of headspace and LLW operations, processes, and procedures.
You will also possess the following skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology or related discipline.
- Demonstrated leadership skills to provide clinical leadership and manage and develop a multi-disciplinary team (including human and financial resource matters).
- Applied knowledge of youth mental health with minimum 5 years’ experience in evidence based clinical practice in mental health
- Demonstrated experience in high quality clinical service delivery including assessment, evidence-based psychological interventions, and coordination of individualised interventions to meet the needs of young people.
- Demonstrated capacity to deliver a high performing clinical service within budget that meets contract targets and requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to embrace organisational change and the capacity to be innovative in clinical approaches with young people and lead local level change initiatives.
- Highly developed and demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), problem solving and negotiation skills, with experience and capacity to manage multiple, simultaneous key stakeholder relationships, some with conflicting priorities.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act including proposed reforms and the Children, Youth and Families Act and any other relevant legislation.
