We Care NSW is a provider of specialist Aboriginal mental health, disability and OOHC services. We are a growing Not for Profit organisation that prides itself on offering quality support services to those living with a mental health concern, disability and children and young people living in OOHC.

Our service delivery covers children, young people and adults in the Maitland, Newcastle, Hunter and Tweed region.

About the role

We are currently seeking a Psychologist to join our established team in Maitland and Broadmedow NSW. This role is available either part time (minimum 24 hours per week) or full time

You will provide psychological assessment, consultation, therapeutic interventions and professional services to children, young people and adults funded under the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Medicare, DCJ and Fee for Service.  

Success in this role will be supported by your

  • ability to provide high quality, culturally appropriate psychological interventions, often in relation to complex and challenging behaviours.
  • ability to thrive in a flexible, person-centred and strengths-based way across a diverse range of settings to meet client needs.

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and full registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Eligibility for a Medicare Provider Number to provide Mental Health Care Plan Services
  • Current Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • Relevant experience as a psychologist working with children, young people, adults and families within trauma informed frameworks or willingness to work with these clients groups.
  • Highly developed effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to think critically, problem solve and make timely, sound clinical decisions whilst working autonomously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and engage and collaborate with consumers, their families and carers and/or other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with emotionally charged situations and unpredictable behaviour calmly and constructively
  • Well-developed written communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems.
  • Ability to work independently and in consultation with the multidisciplinary team
  • Desirable – AHPRA Board Approved Supervisor for Provisional Psychologists
  • Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist  

As per the Public Health Order for the NSW Disability Sector any successful applicants will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, provide evidence of their COVID-19 vaccination status and maintain their vaccination currency or provide evidence of their medical contraindication.
