Position Title: Family Worker – Alcohol and Drug Service.
Employment Type: Part Time – Maximum Term (up until June 2026)
Hours per week: 24hours/week
Position Grade: Counsellor Level 3, Social Worker Level 3, Psychologist (Year 1-9)
Salary: Counsellor – $108,595.00 – $112,114.00, Social Worker – $108,595.00 – $112,114.00, Psychologist – $74,742.00 – $109,391.00

About the role:
The Burton Street Centre Family Worker will work as part of the Alcohol and Drug Service, St Vincent’s Health Sydney. This position will be responsible for delivering high quality, professional treatment to families of young people who use drugs or substances of concern. The Family Worker will also work directly with young people. Service delivery will be provided both onsite at St Vincent’s Hospital and within partner organisations. The position will work alongside the Burton Street Centre multidisciplinary team to engage young people and their families, in brief intervention, case management, and family-based counselling interventions within a harm minimisation framework.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
  2. Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology and general registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or social work or other relevant behavioural sciences and eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association and current NSW Category 3 driving licence
  3. Demonstrated advanced relevant clinical experience working with adolescents and young people and their families.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of theoretical frameworks underlying youth and family interventions.
  5. Demonstrated experience in the development of quality improvement initiatives and implementation of innovative and evidence based clinical interventions.
  6. Demonstrated capacity to develop and maintain partnerships with other health services and external agencies.
  7. Demonstrated understanding of contemporary approaches to drug and alcohol treatment
  8. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills as well as high level computer skills: Microsoft Office, Patient Record Systems.
