About the position
 
Based primarily at our Campbelltown office we are seeking a Mental Health Clinician to join our Clinical Suicide Prevention Service to deliver services across Campbelltown, Liverpool, and Fairfield regions. 
 
This is a short-term support program that supports people who after a suicide attempt, have been discharged into the care of a GP or other referrer from an emergency department; those who have presented to a GP, or eligible referrer after a suicide attempt; or people who have expressed strong suicidal ideation.
 
The core focus of the role is to provide safety to people when needed most. Key responsibilities include assessing safety and collaborating with consumers in creating a care plan which identifies goals in treatment to address drivers of suicide and self-harm.
 
The position is part-time (2 days per week) and fixed term until 30 June 2024. We’re flexible with the days, hours and your location (within the Campbelltown, Liverpool & Fairfield regions).
 
Who we are looking for:

  • Allied health professionals with AHPRA or AASW registration
  • Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, MH Nurses and Aboriginal Health Workers
  • Accredited Mental Health Social Workers and Social Workers who have an interest in mental health and are considering working towards full MH accreditation

Selection Criteria:

  1. Current AHPRA registration as a psychologist or provisionally registered psychologist, an Aboriginal health worker, mental health nurse or occupational therapist or accreditation with the AASW as a mental health social worker
  2. Demonstrated skills and experience in providing evidence-based therapy
  3. Demonstrated understanding of suicide and self-harm risk and best practice guidelines for treatment of these issues
