$94,160 p/a+ superannuation + salary sacrifice

Full-time – Fixed-term position

About the role:

We are currently seeking a full-time Community Practitioner to join our Counselling and Youth team in Rockhampton. Our new practitioner will provide counselling and support to individuals, young people and families who are subject to child protection interventions. They will have sound experience in case management and client support, with a track record in the delivery of professional counselling and support, sensitive to the needs of a range of clients.

What will a typical day look like?

  • Contribute to a small team of dedicated community Practitioners who share knowledge, and support.
  • Accept referrals from the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women, individuals, or other community agencies to assist families in developing knowledge and skills to provide relevant and positive care for children and young people.
  • Engage young people, carers, and young people’s families through the use of a range of counselling and strength-based therapeutic interventions, tools, perspectives and strategies to improve wellbeing when young people are experiencing statutory intervention.
  • Promote and develop positive working relationships with stakeholders and networks to improve support for young people, carers, and young people’s families.
  • Work collaboratively with a young person & their care team to help support placement stability and wellbeing of young person.
  • Support young people to manage maladaptive and challenging behaviours through supporting young people to identify worries and issues and setting mutually agreed and achievable goals and tasks.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Full COVID-19 Vaccination
  • Bachelor or post-graduate qualifications in Social Services, Psychology, counselling or similar are mandatory.
  • Ability to obtain a Blue Card (working with children check positive notice or exemption)
  • Ability to obtain a Yellow Card (disability services positive notice or exemption notice) 

Desirable:

  • Experience in a similar counselling role.
