Workshop Facilitator – Indigenous Career Links

Career Links are a community focused, not-for-profit organisation. We facilitate a range of programs and initiatives which connect young people with business, education, communities and families. At the heart of Career Links is passion to improve school to work outcomes. We have been delivering services to Students and Schools for over 22 years.

The Position

This position is full time for 24-30 hours per week. We offer a flexible working environment that will be negotiated with the successful applicant. You will be delivering a program that has assisted school students since 2015.

The role of the Facilitator is to deliver the successful Introduction to Work program to Indigenous students still at school in years 7 to 12 with increased support for students in years 9 to 11 in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Lower Hunter Region.

The program aims to increase the student’s confidence, capacity and opportunity to determine their own futures. This will be achieved by assisting them to complete a career plan through understanding career paths and the workplace culture. You will deliver a series of one on one and group sessions, facilitate workplace engagement programs including guest speakers, tours and work experience opportunities.

Selection Criteria:

  • An understanding of the local Aboriginal Culture.
  • Ability to work with Indigenous youth and assist them to plan and develop a career path
  • Ability to talk with parents and inform them of opportunities for their children
  • Able to work one-on-one or with small groups of students
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
  • Ability to collect data and accurately enter into database
  • Willing to undertake the Working with Children check and NSW National Criminal Records check
  • Current Driver’s License and own comprehensively insured car.
  • Experience in the employment or training sectors preferred.
  • Proven history of meeting KPI’s.
  • Intermediate level of skill with Microsoft Office Suite
