The organisation

The Griffith University Gold Coast (GUGC) Student Guild is an independent student association servicing all students currently enrolled at the Griffith University Gold Coast campus. The Guild works closely with Griffith University and other key stakeholders to support the diverse community of approximately 18,000 students.

The Guild has three divisions: Student Services, Business Services, and Commercial Services led by the General Manager reporting to a Board of elected student representatives. Under the direction of the Board, the Guild’s purpose is to provide students with positive, relevant, and valued services that support them to achieve success in all aspects of their student life.

Student Services provide a range of support and enhancement initiatives across the areas of: academic support, wellbeing, careers and employability, sport and fitness, orientation and student welfare, social and culrual, student clubs, volunteer programs, and events.

The role

The Orientation and Student Welfare Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of services designed to help students successfully navigate their way through their university journey. The role is responsible for developing and implementation of an Orientation program that helps students adjust to unique stage of life as well as providing critical welfare services aimed at meeting their essential life needs.

Working collaboratively with relevant Griffith University departments and Student Guild stakeholders, the Orientation and Student Welfare Coordinator will oversee the Student Guilds reception service to provide an exceptional customer service experience to all students.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting tertiary students and is super organised and hands on operator.

The position attracts a salary of $65,899 to $74,402 plus 11% superannuation and this is a full-time role.

Selection criteria

Essential:

1. Minimum bachelor level qualification from a tertiary institution and a strong understanding of the tertiary education system including support services, or similarly complex environments

2. Minimum 1 years’ industry experience in an administration, customer service, business, NPO or similarly complex environment

3. Experience developing and managing a customer service function or programs

4. Demonstrated ability to manage teams and employees

5. Strong stakeholder management experience both internally and externally with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of individuals, including culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

6. Ability to analyse trends, think strategically and implement plans for relevant services and support programs on campus.

7. Demonstrated strong organisational skills, time management skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to respond efficiently to competing demands

Desirable:

1. Experience working within the Higher Education Sector and an understanding of extra-curricular services within the Higher Education Sector

2. Demonstrated experience engaging young people aged 18-25
