The Position

St John of God Accord is a division of St John of God Health Care dedicated to providing support to people with intellectual disabilities. The overall aim is to enhance the quality of life for clients through development and provision of support options that are aligned to the personal ambition and need of each client.

St John of God Accord’s growing team of vibrant and dedicated Allied Health professionals is looking for Allied Health Therapy Assistants. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing client centred therapeutic interventions under the remote supervision of an Allied Health clinician (Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Music Therapist or Physiotherapist).

Where possible, you will work collaboratively with other community agencies and professionals involved with the client. These are community and site based positions and require independent travel between clients and our metropolitan offices.

These positions will be offered on a casual contract basis.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Currently undertaking relevant Allied Health studies and/or significant experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of capacity building in the disability sector and/or various allied health disciplines.
  • Capacity to demonstrate understanding of evidence-based supports.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to present information to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to liaise and engage with people from diverse cultures including ATSI background.
  • Strong commitment to principles of enhancing independence and client empowerment.
  • Ability to collaborate within a trans-disciplinary team.
  • Computer aptitude and experience with MS office suite, internet applications and email.
  • First Aid Level 2.
