Counsellor – Customised Employment That Recruitment Chap

JOB DESCRIPTION

About Us

We are a forward-thinking organisation committed to promoting inclusion, diversity, and equal opportunities for people with disabilities. We believe everyone deserves the same opportunities to work – but people living with a disability and those who experience social disadvantage often experience significant barriers to employment. Our focus is on breaking down those barriers by providing training and employment with expert support tailored to the needs of individuals.

About the opportunity

Reporting to the Counsellor Coordinator, you will deliver one on one counselling to individuals with disabilities and/or barriers to finding employment (often in their own home) and support them to achieve meaningful mainstream employment outcomes. This will involve:

  • Working closely with the person’s family and/or networks
  • Completing case notes and reports ensuring the work is captured, documented and reported back to the person, family and NDIS.
  • Engaging with businesses that align with the individual’s strengths and skills.
  • Contributing to promoting our Customised Employment service to a range of stakeholders including schools, support coordinators, NDIS planners, Local Area Coordinators and family networks
  • Contributing to presentations on topics related to employment counselling and Customised Employment (face to face and/or webinars).
  • Contributing to planning and decision making within the organisation. Your resilience and problem-solving skills will support you in solving complex issues as they arise.
  • Engaging in professional training and ongoing development to continually enhance your skills

Key Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Counselling and experience working with people with disabilities, community services or related field.
  • Current membership with Australian Counselling Association or PACFA
  • A current drivers licence and own vehicle (or other means of attending meetings off site)
  • A focus on solutions and positive outcomes
  • Effective relationship management skills with the ability to interact and collaborate with colleagues at all levels within the organisation.

You value diversity and build inclusive environments where people experience `belonging’ and have the ability to work with people with a wide range of physical and psychological disabilities
