About headspace

headspace provides early intervention mental health services to 12–25-year-old. headspace can help young people with mental health, physical health (including sexual health) alcohol and other drug services, and work and study support.

About the Opportunity

As the Clinician you will provide effective screening, assessment, targeted, goal and outcome focused interventions for young people aged 12-25 years accessing headspace Katherine. You will support a young person from initial contact through to providing ongoing therapeutic intervention and will be highly skilled at assessing the needs of young people, including complex risk assessments and collaborative safety and care planning. Your flexibility will be fundamental to building a positive rapport with a wide range of young people, including young Aboriginal people, their family, friends, and external stakeholders.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • An approved tertiary qualification and minimum 1 years’ experience in a health-related discipline and registration with the relevant regulatory body such as APHRA or membership AASW for Social Workers.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of individual and group work, including screening, assessment, targeted goal, and outcome focused interventions to young people and their families.
  • Experience in working with young people within a multi-disciplinary mental health or youth service setting and a demonstrated understanding of mental health issues impacting young people, best practice treatment options, support services and co-morbidities.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse groups and a commitment to working safely with young Aboriginal people and their families.
