The opportunity

IFYS has an exciting opportunity for an Early Years Therapeutic Practitioner (EYTP) to join the team in a newly created position.

The EYTP undertakes Foster & Kinship care placement support for children from birth to ten years with a focus on early intervention and therapeutic supports mapping.

Working in collaboration with the Department of Child Safety, childhood centres and professional services the role will provide in home training and practical, hands-on support for approved Carers, particularly focusing on Kinship Carers and their family networks.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Therapeutically engage with a children or young people and prepare developmental and behavioural assessments, profiles and reports for the department
  • Assist carers to create a home that is emotionally and physically safe, nurturing, appropriately engaging and stimulating which fosters growth and resilience
  • Day-to-day care, including assistance with medication, transport, support with education, schooling, and relationships
  • Ensure program administrative and financial accountability through the timely and accurate provision of client and service records, work plans, reports, evaluations and program budgets
  • Navigate and engage the early childhood education providers/and or school settings to develop assessments to support a child’s participation and engagement
  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • A passion for improving the lives of young people
  • Excellent communication skills in written and verbal formats, including report writing
  • Professional experience working with children and families in a therapeutic environment
  • Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology or Social Work, with relevant industry body registration/memberships
  • Understanding of child protection and statutory intervention services

Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful:

  • QLD Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • QLD Yellow Card or NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Licensed Care Suitability Check (LCS2)
  • National Criminal History Check (a new check will be requested through IFYS systems)
