DFV Practitioner – Crisis Response

Part Time 30 hours per week.

Fixed Term Contract to 30 June 2024

Domestic Violence NSW Service Management (DVSM) is a registered charity which aims to prevent violence and provide support and assistance to women and children escaping or experiencing domestic and family violence and homelessness. Your Opportunity

The DFV Crisis Response Service provides support to women with or without children in immediate crisis who are escaping Domestic and Family Violence. The program focuses on assessing client’s needs, safety planning and linking them to alternative safe accommodation. This team is required to maintain relationships with local temporary and crisis accommodation pathways and providers and have strategies in place to enable access.

You will be responsible for delivering person centred, strengths-based case management services within a Human Rights Framework. This role requires you to work onsite and in outreach settings across the Blacktown LGA.

You are required to participate in the on-call roster on a rotating basis. You will work in collaboration with the Senior DFV Practitioner and Manager Crisis Services to support the achievement of organisational goals and maintains a positive culture within the team.

Your Impact

• Adhere to a trauma-informed approach when addressing clients’ mental health, safety, and wellbeing needs as identified.

• Provide advocacy, information and support for women and their children who have experienced DFV.

• Engage in safety planning with women to ensure their safety, wellbeing and dignity is upheld.

• Develop and maintain accurate, confidential records including case notes, case plans, support letters and data collection.

• The capacity to engage in an on-call roster is a fundamental requirement of the position.

What you’ll bring to the role

• A relevant degree or certification in social work or related field is preferred.

• 2 years’ experience working directly with clients who have experienced DFV and/or homelessness.

• Demonstrated experience working in direct support roles in the DFV or welfare sector.

• Experience working in a team based environment.

• Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)

• Valid First Aid Certification

• A National Police Check
