Your Opportunity

This important, front-line position provides practical case management and counselling support to individuals and families dealing with challenging issues like family violence, anxiety, depression, teenage self-harm, and family separation.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Meet with clients to conduct a collaborative needs assessment and to develop strategies and set goals to improve their situation
  • Assess clients and determine if they should be linked into the service or referred to an alternative service
  • Provide individual case management and counselling support. This may be over the phone, face to face, in centre and/or outreach
  • Assist to develop group counselling sessions to meet the needs of the service, clients and the local community
  • Maintain client files and case notes as per Mission Australia policy and procedures as well as reporting requirements of the Funding Agreement
  • Participation in team meetings and stakeholder gatherings

Qualifications & experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. Psychology, Social Work degree, or other relevant Allied Health qualification)
  • Demonstrated experience working in the Family Support sector
  • Previous case management experience
  • Proven skill in delivering positive outcomes and customised support to clients of diverse backgrounds and varying levels of disadvantage
  • Strong listening and engagement skills including the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to present information and case notes clearly and concisely
  • A sound level of computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office packages
