As a Counsellor/Advocate at Gippsland CASA, you will provide trauma-informed counselling and advocacy to survivors of sexual assault, collaborate with a diverse team to create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere, advocate for clients’ best interests within the service system and maintain accurate and confidential records while upholding the highest ethical standards.

Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assault (GCASA) is funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, Victoria.  GCASA is an Incorporated Association, governed by a community-based Board and is funded to provide comprehensive sexual assault support services and sexually abusive treatment services across the Gippsland Region. Our mission is to support survivors of sexual assault, empower individuals, and foster healing in our community.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • A degree or equivalent certification in social welfare, counselling, social work, psychology, or related fields.
  • At least 2 years of counselling experience.
  • Strong clinical and communication skills.
  • An understanding of diversity, inclusion, and a commitment to respecting all clients.

 The successful applicant will: 

  • Be willing if required to travel across the region and to Melbourne as negotiated for training and development. 
  • Hold a current Victorian driver’s licence. 
  • Hold a current Working with Children’s check. 
  • Provide a current National Crim Check 

The successful applicant will be appointed for a six-month probationary period during which time, regular clinical and line management supervision is provided. At the conclusion of this period a performance review will be held with the CEO and Clinical Manager; after which, a decision will be made to offer ongoing employment or to cease employment with the Agency.  _____________________________________________________________
