About the role

We are seeking a student welfare worker to fulfil a part-time fixed term contract for 2024. The student welfare worker will provide social, emotional and spiritual support reflecting the specific needs of the students attending the school as well as providing support for a range of day-to-day matters affecting the College community.  

The successful applicant will have the ability to:

  • Communicate effectively with a diverse group of people.
  • Support the Catholic ethos of the school.
  • A sound knowledge of student welfare.
  • Proven capacity to work with students and young adults.
  • Provide friendly, efficient service to all stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational ability.
  • Effective administration skills including sound digital literacy and spreadsheet skills.
  • Work diligently and quickly to support students.
  • Able to work in a rapidly changing environment.

To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:

  • hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.

Estimated start date: Jan 2024

Position tenure: Fixed Term

Weeks worked: School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)

Tenure duration (where Fixed Term): 12 Months

Total Paid Hours (per week) & days required: 10 hours p/wk (days/times can be negotiated)

Salary level, range or hourly rate: School Officer Level 4 – Full time hourly rate commencing at $34.86 per hour ($28.16 if annualised)

Employment conditions: Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement
