The role of the Family Clinician/therapist is an important and valued member of the headspace team, which provides support and counselling to young people aged 12-25 years and to their families/carers at both the Malvern and Hawthorn-headspace locations. This position includes managing a caseload of young people and family/carers, using a trauma-informed family therapy and to provide access to a range of services to support and improve mental health and well-being outcomes for young people.

What you will be doing

 Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessment to young people aged 12-25years, their family/carers
  • Deliver Session by Session and ongoing therapy to young people and/or families following evidence-informed practice principles
  • Work within a systemic framework
  • Facilitate parent/carer group programs and information sessions (such as TINT – Tuning into Teens)

What you will bring

 Key Selection Criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in family therapy and eligible membership with the Australian Association of Family Therapy
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of family counselling, family single sessions and other family interventions
  • Demonstrated experience working in family support, youth mental health, alcohol and other drugs, community or similar health services (minimum three years’ experience)
  • Experience and recognised training in clinical risk assessment and management
